Aerospace Vehicle Survivability Facility set to meet anticipated National Defense Strategy demands

Fire ignition is visible as a result of a ballistic test conducted on a surrogate center wing fuel tank in Test Site 3 Upper at the Aerospace Vehicle Survivability Facility (AVSF). Test Site 3 Upper is one of three areas that make up AVSF Test Site 3. This test site is one of three primary AVSF test sites that support aerospace survivability and vulnerability evaluations, live fire test and evaluation risk reduction, research, development, test and evaluation, and modeling and simulation. The AVSF is operated by the Aerospace Survivability and Safety Office at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. This office is part of the 704th Test Group at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico. The 704 TG is a unit of the Arnold Engineering Development Complex headquartered at Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee. (Courtesy photo)
