JBLE Airman killed in motorcycle crash

An active-duty Airman assigned to the 1st Munitions Squadron, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, was killed during an off-base motorcycle accident in Newport News, Virginia, Dec. 28, 2022.

The deceased Airman has been identified as Staff Sgt. Tanner Romanos, 27, of Clinton, Connecticut. Romanos entered the Air Force in June 2015 and arrived at JBLE in January 2019. Romanos served as a crew chief with the 1st MUNS.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our family members and I know that pain is felt throughout the Wing and the JBLE community as a whole,” said Col. William Creeden, 1st Fighter Wing commander. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sgt. Romanos’ family, friends, and everyone affected by this tragedy.”
