TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex hosted a two-day safety fair ahead of National Safety Month observed in June, underscoring the Complex’s commitment to a safe work environment, highlighting the important role safety plays in the OC-ALC mission, May 20-21, on base.
The OC-ALC is proactively addressing safety concerns through a data-driven approach, aiming to significantly reduce workplace injuries. This strategy involves analyzing data to identify potential hazards and implementing preventative measures before incidents occur.
A key component of this approach is the annual safety fair, which shows the latest advancements in personal protective equipment and other safety-related products. The OC-ALC actively collaborates with engineering teams and subject matter experts to evaluate and implement innovative solutions that streamline processes and eliminate hazards.
"Having the safety fair each year displays the most modern products in PPE and safety items," said Richard Meese, OC-ALC safety program manager. "Working closely with engineering and the SMEs we try new products to help streamline our processes. New equipment and policies assist in taking the hazard out of a process."
The integration of new equipment and revised policies are designed to mitigate the risk of injuries, preventing a domino effect that can impact productivity. When mechanics are injured, their colleagues must absorb the additional workload, potentially leading to delays and increased costs.
"If our workforce is healthy, then our product is on time and on budget," Meese said. By prioritizing the well-being of its workforce through proactive safety measures, the OC-ALC aims to maintain efficiency and deliver on its mission objectives.
The Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex's dedication to safety reflects a commitment to its employees and to the overall success of its operations. By continually seeking innovative solutions and fostering a culture of safety, the OC-ALC strives to create a workplace where every employee can thrive.
