U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Jeannie Leavitt, Department of Air Force Chief of Safety, conducts pre-flight operations on a UH-1 Huey at the 58th Special Operations Wing, Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M., Feb. 15, 2022. During her visit Leavitt toured the 512th Rescue Squadron and co-piloted a UH-1 flight. As commander and chief of safety, Leavitt is responsible for the development, execution and evaluation of all Air and Space Force aviation, ground, weapons, space and system mishap prevention and nuclear surety programs to maintain combat capability.
