A Final Salute: Reflections on 25 Years of Service
Senior Master Sgt. Mathew Livesay, Air Force Safety Center nuclear surety team member, renders a final salute on his last day of active duty to Col. Chris Weaton, AFSEC deputy commander, to thank Weaton for his leadership, support and the honor of serving at the AFSEC, Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, August 3, 2026. Livesay said, “The Air Force took me farther than I ever imagined—from the missile fields of North Dakota to the X 37B recovery team, an assignment in Moscow supporting the Atlas V launch program, and ultimately the Air Force Safety Center. Those assignments changed where I went, but the people I served beside changed who I became.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Todd Berenger)
