The 66th Air Base Group Safety Office will participate in a weeklong national safety campaign Aug. 15 through 21.

According to the Occupational Safety and Health website, Safe + Sound Week is held every August to recognize successful health and safety programs.

“Throughout the week, the safety office will conduct spot safety inspections at facilities and provide recognition to personnel who have done something that benefits safety on the installation,” said Master Sgt. Henrie Young, 66 ABG occupational safety superintendent.

As part of this annual safety campaign, officials will work with unit safety representatives to identify and manage workplace hazards.

“All members of the workforce plays a role in the safety culture at Hanscom Air Force Base, not only during Safe + Sound Week, but in everyday activities on the job, at home, as well as on the road,” said Shaun Bassett, 66 ABG occupational safety manager.

Young also spoke about the importance of keeping safety in mind while working from home.

“Our teammates teleworking should be familiar with safety practices used in the workplace and implement them at home,” said Young. “Accidents occurring while working from home must also be reported.”

“Looking out for each other helps promote a sense of connectedness within an organization,” said Young.
