Air Force Chief of Ground Safety Bill Parsons held the first Town Hall meeting Jan. 29 using Defense Connect Online. More than 200 Air Force safety professionals submitted questions early or used the DCO chat function to ask questions during the meeting.

"This Town Hall meeting is for you, the safety professionals in the field, to let us know what's on your mind, what's important for your success and how we can help," James T. Rubeor, Air Force Safety Center executive director, told the participants.

Topics of most interest included motorcycle training funding, fall protection, and common OSHA violations. "We need to hear what issues are important to the field in order for us to address those concerns," Parsons said.

"So far this year, we've had zero on-duty fatalities," Parsons said. "We're also showing a decrease in Class C injuries on and off duty. Safety professionals have a great deal to do with [the decrease], but sometimes people forget that the responsibility of taking care of our people lies not only with the safety professionals but with commanders, supervisors and co-workers."

The next Town Hall is scheduled for March 14, in conjunction with the Professional Development Course sponsored by the Navy. For more information contact navoshnor.admin@navy.mil.
