In addition, Occupational Safety, in conjunction with the Air Force inspector general, oversees integration of Air Force safety inspections and policy, as well as integration of risk management processes. It develops and oversees occupational safety policy, programs and procedures to provide a safe work environment and enhance the safety of 650,000 Air Force personnel worldwide to maintain combat capability and readiness. It maintains liaison with governmental and non-governmental agencies as a U.S. Air Force member or a consultant representative to national consensus standards and mishap prevention committees and organizations. Occupational Safety also performs mishap final evaluations and provides lessons-learned and analyses to U.S. Air Force units.
